I’m Terri, a woman over 40 and have been for some time – 62 years young, to be exact, but who’s counting? I relate to women of a certain age, of our age, who are longing to live their lives in a more authentic and fulfilling way. There have been women in my life and, especially recently, who have inspired me to live my best, most authentic life. I am hoping to share this inspiration here in my blogs and through photos and inspirational quotes, and small group trips to Italy.

For the last two years, I have been the owner of an online women’s clothing boutique, called Cactus + Olives. C + O was born of my love of fashion and Italy. It began with me discovering things I found on my trips. But it became something else, and it just wasn’t “me” anymore. So I made the decision to close the shop and head in a different direction. I am obsessed with Italy… her people, the land, the sea, the food, the wine, the language, the art, the history, the architecture. I travel there as often as I can, which has been about twice a year, and I have been to many regions with Rome, Amalfi Coast and Puglia being my favorites so far.

As my twin boys are growing up fast (they will be 17 in May) and will soon be going off to college, I have felt that the time is right for me to begin a new chapter. I am still mom and wife first, but my passion for traveling to Italy has not waned, and, if anything, is just deeper. Since I will be having a freed-up schedule with my boys not needing me as much (I’m sure most of you can relate), I wanted to go back to my original idea of somehow incorporating Italy and my travels there.

So, this new venture more incorporates what is important to me in my life now: authenticity, honesty, living my best life daily, self care, being stylish yet comfortable, taking chances and not being afraid of making mistakes, learning who is the real me, moving toward joy, doing things that make me “feel” more, and helping other women with these same issues. The second half of life is here, and I don’t want to waste a minute doing things that no longer feel right for me. You only have one life and since this is my second act, I going to Carpe that Diem, sister! Does this resonate

an experience

For me, spending more time in Italy is a huge part of the equation. Because this is such a part of me – the country, the way of life, the people, the entire experience of being there, I felt a very strong pull to make that happen. And so, a big part of Curated Over 40 will be curating and hosting lovely, women-only trips to Italy, with our next trip in September to Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

Next year I will host other “Soul Trips” to Rome and surrounds and one to Puglia & Matera. I call them “Soul Trips” because your senses will be elevated and you will feel more alive and in touch with the essence of you. They are slow trips that are created to savor the land, the people and the customs. My hope is that you will experience La Dolce Vita and love it, and want more. It’s definitely not your usual “tour”. It’s an “un-tour”. It’s an experience for your senses and your soul.

inspiration for women to change in midlife and find joy and fulfillment

can you picture yourself here?

I live in Napa in Northern California with my husband, my two boys, our dog Lola and cat Neow. I have designed, built and decorated two homes and architecture and design are very important to me. I play tennis when I can and love taking short trips with my girlfriends. I love to sing and dance and see live bands and listen to music. But more often than not, you can find me looking at photos of Italy and dreaming of ways to get back and discover new places. Who wants to join me on this journey of self-discovery, fulfillment, enlightenment and living like there’s no tomorrow? It’s bound to be a fun and adventurous ride.
